#WTSGoldCoast Grand Final by the Numbers

Thousands of athletes descended on the Gold Coast of Australia to compete against the world’s best triathletes and paint the town gold as World Champions were crowned! Age-Group athletes, Juniors, U23, Paratriathlon and Mixed Relay Teams all competed to win perspective World Titles in their sport categories before the Elites lined up to close out the 2018 World Triathlon Series in the 8th stop in the season.

The WTS World Championship trophy went to Vicky Holland (GBR) who won her first-career World Crown by collecting 5540 overall Series points and on the men’s side Mario Mola recorded his third-straight World Title by tallying 6081 Series points in the year.

The event as a whole saw the home nation of Australia win the most medals earned with 74 (23 gold, 25 silver, 26 bronze) while USA had 40 total medals and Great Britain had 35 medals.

So, after completing yet another succesful WTS year, let’s take a look at the final numbers and best times from the events to see who swam, biked, ran and won in the quickest way!

Combining both the men’s and women’s races. there was 102 finishes, 16 DNF, 2 DSQ and 2 LAP on the course.
