Photo Of The Year: Final Result

By Fergus Murray | 30 Dec, 2010

It was a heated battle in the race for Photo of the Year but in the end, Delly Carr’s stunning image of the men’s bike race in Madrid came out on top.  It was followed closely by Janos Schmidt’s low angle shot of Chile’s Barbara Riveros Diaz exhausted at the finish area after the Grand Final in Budapest.

The Madrid photo was the winner from week #3 and here were comments from the photographer:

“I don’t have to remind you, but we all know that the fastest physical leg of Triathlon is cycling. Particularly on the last lap or two as athletes start jockeying for position to lead out on the ever so important run. This picture took a lot of work to get, combining a lot of different photo techniques and concentration to get to that point.”

“Those beautiful trees of Madrid that line the cycle course gave this image the personality, the vibrance of colour and the speed of movement, three terms that I feel are the essence of Triathlon.” - Delly Carr
