Meet the world’s best female triathletes at the London Oakley Ladies Day

By Merryn Sherwood | 04 Aug, 2011

Are you an age-grouper after some tips, or just a fan hoping to rub shoulders with some of the best female triathletes in the world? Then come on down to the Oakley O-lab in Hyde Park for a Ladies Day bonanza on Sunday August 7 in London.

A star studded line up of the world’s best female triathletes on Sunday, including reigning Olympic champion Emma Snowsill, multiple World Cup winner Laura Bennett, 2008 World Champion Helen Jenkins and the latest woman to take the triathlon world by storm, Canadian Paula Findlay.

Snowsill is one of the all time triathlon legends, a three-time World Champion who won gold in Beijing by a margin of over a minute. Bennett is a multiple World Cup winner, finished fourth in Beijing and is having an excellent year on the Dextro Energy Triathlon Series, with a top eight finish in each of the three series races she’s contested this year. Jenkins won the world title in 2008, on the back of a successful bike breakaway to upset the field, and has pushed Findlay all the way in tight races in Madrid and Kitzbühel this year. Findlay won her first series race in London last year and since then has only lost one, last year’s Grand Final. But the five wins from six races has the 22-year-old down as an early Olympic gold favourite for next year’s London 2012 Games.

Oakley came on board as Official Global Eyewear Sponsor of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series this year. Arguably the most recognisable eyewear brand in the world, Oakley was the seventh global partner of the world’s premier triathlon series, which has created major sponsorship and broadcast opportunities since launching in 2009.

Current Oakley athletes include Olympic gold medallists Emma Snowsill and Jan Frodeno, World Champions Javier Gomez and Emma Moffatt, and a bevy of World Cup winners and Olympians such as Brad Kahlefeldt, Lisa Norden,Nicola Spirig and Kris Gemmell.

Findlay, Snowsill, Jenkins and Bennett will be at the Oakley O-lab in the expo area on Sunday from 12 pm (noon).
