Challenge Almere-Amsterdam launches App

By Challenge Almere | 01 Aug, 2014

Obtaining information about the Challenge Almere-Amsterdam is much easier now with the newly launched application Challenge Almere-Amsterdam. The application contains information about, amongst others, the program of the Challenge Almere-Amsterdam weekend, the various tracks and races, competing top athletes, and news items. Athletes can also enter via the app, and spectators will find information about how to reach the various hotspots to watch their favorite athlete perform. The Challenge Almere-Amsterdam is held from 12 through 14 September 2014 in Almere, the Netherlands. The app Challenge Almere-Amsterdam is available for download (for free) from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The Challenge Almere-Amsterdam hosts the ETU European Championships this year during the weekend of 12 through 14 September. This year, the organization decided to develop an app together with Linden Mobile. The app informs athletes and spectators before the race but also during the weekend about all activities.

“We try to meet the expectations of both athletes and visitors in our communications”, says race director Richard Belderok. “Smartphones form a significant part in communications nowadays. That is why we are already active on social media like Facebook and Twitter, but we did not have our own app yet.” A missed opportunity, according to Davey Oliemans from Linden Mobile: “We cannot ignore the use of smartphones in sport any longer. All kinds of applications exist with training programmes, and the large tournaments all provide race results through apps. We have experience with creating applications for events, and it seemed interesting to us to help Challenge. With this app, you have all the information you need close at hand.” Athletes can look up the most recent information for competitors. During the weekend of Challenge Almere-Amsterdam, the latest news and information about the accessibility of the city of Almere and the various hotspots will appear in the application. Furthermore, the race results will be published via the app. The website www.challenge-almere.com continues to provide more extensive information about Challenge Almere-Amsterdam.
