Triathlon Mauritius Coaches Courses and Training Camp

ITU Sport Development - Triathlon Mauritius Coaches Courses and Training Camp
Curepipe, Mauritius - 9 to 16 April, 2010


The Mauritius Triathlon Federation (FM TRI) and the International Triathlon Union (ITU) hosted an Olympic Solidarity coaches’ course and a Junior training camp in Curepipe, Mauritius, from April 9th through 16th.

The classroom sessions were held at the Curepipe Sport Association Center for community and beginner coaches.  Attendees had hands-on practice during a Junior triathlon training camp conducted in parallel with the coaching course.  A group of 15 athletes attended the training session, focusing on skills development.

Mr. Alain St-Louis from the Mauritian Triathlon Federation, commented that, “It was a unique opportunity for our community coaches and a fruitful learning experience for our young athletes to lean from expert coaches such as Franz Studer (RSA) and Luc Morin (CAN).”

Adian Wehrli, assistant treasurer of Mauritius National Olympic Committee, said, “Mauritius’ coaches need continuous education to develop the sport and for the future Olympic Games.”

Pascal Auger, national coach for the Mauritius Triathlon Federation, commented: “It gave my athletes a different perspective about the performance and technical skills required to reach the next level. It was a wonderful opportunity for the development of our community coaches. This will be a great boost in the development of our youth and it will facilitate the development of our performance program.”

Franz Studer, ITU Coach Education Facilitator and Luc Morin, ePerformance consultant and Canadian coach were the presenters at the course funded by Olympic Solidarity and supported by ITU Sport Development.
