The planning and scheduling for the 2008 Lorient BG Triathlon World Cup in France is well under way and appears to be on track for a successful debut in Lorient.  Earlier this week, Gergely Markus, ITU Event Development Director and Technical Delegate for the triathlon competition at the Beijing Olympic Games, conducted a successful site visit with the Lorient Local Organizing Committee (LOC).

During the visit, Markus and the LOC reviewed the technical details of the event including course information, venue facilities and race logistics.  The Lorient BG Triathlon World Cup will be held at the same venue as last years ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships, which were hugely successful.

With the experience from the Long Distance World Championships, I think we are on time with the preparations to have a good debut of Lorient in the BG Triathlon World Cup circuit, said Markus, who is also Secretary General of the European Triathlon Union (ETU).  Its important to showcase Lorient as it will be the first World Cup after the Beijing Olympic Games.

While in Lorient, Markus attended a small reception with the Mayor of Lorient, Norbert Metairie, members of the Lorient LOC lead by Eric Le-Lostec and the Federation Francaise de Triathlon (FFTri) represented by Bernard Saint-Jean.  On behalf of ITU, Markus was pleased to present the Mayor with the official book of the 2007 Hamburg BG Triathlon World Championships.

La planificacin y programacin de la Copa del Mundo de Triatln BG Lorient 2008 ya est en marcha y parece que va por el buen camino para tener un exitoso debut en Lorient. A inicios de esta semana, Gergely Markus, Director del Desarrollo de Competiciones ITU y Delegado Tcnico de la competicin del triatln en los Juegos Olmpico de Beijing, gui la exitosa visita al lugar con el Comit Organizador Local (LOC) de Lorient. 

Durante la visita, Markus y el LOC repasaron los detalles tcnicos de la prueba incluyendo informacin sobre el recorrido, instalaciones del lugar y la logstica de la carrera. La Copa del Mundo de Triatln BG de Lorient se realizar en el mismo lugar que los Campeonatos del Mundo de Triatln de Larga Distancia ITU, los cuales fueron un gran xito.

Con la experiencia de los Campeonatos del Mundo de Larga Distancia, creo que estamos a tiempo con los preparativos para tener el buen debut de Lorient en el circuito de la Copa del Mundo de Triatln BG, dijo Markus, que es tambin Secretario general de la Unin Europea de Triatln (ETU). Es un escaparate importante para Lorient ya que ser la primera Copa del Mundo despus de los Juegos Olmpicos de Beijing.  

Mientras en Lorient, Markus asisti a una pequea recepcin con el Alcalde de Lorient, Norbert Metairie, miembros del Lorient LOC liderados por Eric Le-Lostec y la Federacin Francesa de Triatln (FFTri) representada por Bernard Saint-Jean. Departe de la ITU, Markus estuvo encantado de regalar al Alcalde el libro oficial de los Campeonatos del Mundo de Triatln BG de Hamburgo 2007.
