Euro Champs Now Live

By World Triathlon Admin | 08 May, 2008

Our live coverage weekends continue as the ITU tour rolls into Lisbon for the 2008 European Championships in Portugal. This promises to be a very exciting event with Vanessa Fernandes looking to repeat her success of last year’s World Cup on this very course to retain her European crown for a record-breaking fifth year in a row. While in the men’s race, competition heats up in the battle for the top-8 qualifying countries. Being in the top-8 gives that country three Olympic spots for Beijing, which is a big boost for teams. With Russia in 7th and Switzerland in 8th, both will be in action this weekend and can overtake Australia in 6th and give themselves some breathing room from the U.S. who holds the 9th position.

The event is being televised live in Portugal by national broadcaster RTP and we will have this video feed for our online coverage. RTP will have over 20 cameras on the course as well as one helicopter for aerial footage. As per normal World Cup live coverage we will have live timing and text to accompany full course video coverage. There is no live commentary from this race.

Live coverage for the 2008 Lisbon ETU European Championships will begin on Saturday May 10th at 09:30 local time, one hour before the women’s start. Regional times for the race starts are available below.

Update. We will have live timing for both the Junior Women’s and Men’s races.
The Junior Women’s race begins at 8am local time and followed by the Elite Women at 10:30.
Junior men are at 13:30 and the final race of the day the Elite Men at 16:00.
