By Brian Mahony | 03 May, 2011

In our latest round-up from the world of cyberspace, we scoured the athlete’s blogs, Tweets and Facebook updates to bring you the best of what our international athletes are saying and doing.

Simon Whitfield didn’t hold back in his praise of the young Brownlee brothers and thier notable work ethic, after reading an article on them in an industry publication.

@simonwhitfield simon whitfield
great article in @InsideTri on @AliBrownleetri and Jonathan. Captured how fiercely competitive they are #totallycommitted #crazydrive

However if a picture tells a thousand words, we wonder does Simon know the whole story? One could be fooled by Alistair’s updates from one of their bike sessions.

Tweet of the week “the catch 22 of sports psychology is you need a sport psychologist to tell you that you need a sports psychologist “.

The Royal wedding was the focus of everybody’s attention at the beginning of last week. Will Clarke and Hollie Avil weren’t afraid to show their national pride at the occasion.

@Theclarke Will Clarke
@Hollie_Avil @Clare_Clarke and i celebratin!

Others however used the occasion to do a bit of research for the future…

@jarrodshoemaker Jarrod Shoemaker

On the racing circuit, it was the first ever ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships in Extremadura, Spain. Canada’s Melanie McQuaid’s bike was lost in transit and had to compete on a borrowed bike, but that didn’t stop her from taking the gold. She was clearly excited at her win.

@racergirlmel: soooo excited that I managed to make the potentially worst trip ever the best one EVER EVER

Conrad “The Caveman” Stoltz summed up his win in fewer words, perhaps in keeping with his nickname.

@ConradStoltz Conrad Stoltz
Won Cross Tri Worlds!

Question of the week
Is 34 too many dresses for a triathlete girl who has to live off 30kg of luggage bike included?

@K3Sport Kirsten Sweetland

Elsewhere on the ITU circuit, Subic Bay in the Philippines hosted an Asian Continental Cup. Ireland’s Bryan Keane made his return to racing after an eight month layoff, due to a broken knee he sustained in a collision with a car. The event had some pretty unusual post race offerings for the athletes who competed.

@tribryan Bryan Keane
Free hair cuts at prize giving post race breakfast from gok wan look alike today. I got Koran style haircut, nice

ITU’s athletes are preparing themselves for a busy Summer of travel - it’s not all glamour on the ITU circuit.

@kung_fu_sexton Brendan Sexton
A bit of squirming,a lot of whinging and 5new puncture holes in my arms I’m all vaccinated against the evils of the world…some of them anyway.

@lisanorden Lisa Norden
think I can open a travel agency once finished with the sport. Lots of flights are being booked.

Finally, Sarah Haskinks doesn’t need much work on her swim, but she might just have a little extra motivation now.

@sarahhaskinstri Sarah Haskins
Saw a gator! At least not while I was swimming, but 100 yds from where I was the day before
