It is that time again!

The 2016 Photo Competition is here!

At ITU, we have three of the most talented photographers from around the world who shoot the World Triathlon Series and major events for us, Delly Carr (AUS), Janos Schmidt (HUN) and Wagner Araujo (BRA). So what better way to end out the year and kick start into the next one by showcasing some of our favourite photos that they have taken?

And because we love competitions, why not put our photographers on the start line and let YOU decide which photo was the overall best photo from the year? So over the next six weeks we are gong to take a look back at some of the best photos from the WTS and Olympic and Paralympic Games and then you can vote on which ones were your favourite! The most voted on photo from each competition will then go head-to-head until we crown the overall best photo from the year!

So let the games begin!

This week we will concentrate on WTS Cape Town and WTS Yokohama, two of the most crucial races when it came to Olympic qualification.

First up is Cape Town. What better backdrop for a race than one of the seven natural wonders of the world?

During the race, we all witnessed Flora Duffy’s biking power as she basically performed a solo ride for almost the entire bike leg! While on the men’s side, another Spaniard made it to the top of the podium when Fernando Alarza won the gold medal and put in a strong argument for his spot on the Spanish Olympic team.

Cape Town was shot by Delly Carr.

Yokohama was THEE race when it came to Olympic qualification. After years of earning points, a lot of the national federations used Yokohama as their final race to pick their teams going to Rio. It also became a milestone race for a lot of athletes, Cristanto Grajales (MEX) and Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR) made it onto their first WTS podium, while Ai Ueda made it onto the podium in front of her home nation.

Yokohama was also shot by Delly Carr.
