USA Triathlon seeks National Development Coach

USA Triathlon is currently seeking a National Development Coach to develop, implement and deliver the coach and athlete mentorship strategy for the Resident Collegiate Recruitment Program (RCRP). RCRP membership includes post-graduate individuals identified through the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) swim and run recruitment program and identified and invited “talent acceleration” athletes.

Position Mission:
To accelerate within an Olympic Quadrennial the draft-legal triathlon development of identified CRP (Collegiate Recruitment Program) athletes who meet the individual discipline standards and have been recruited to the Resident CRP program.

Philosophy:
USA Triathlon has studied trends related to Olympic success of ITU Triathlon and promotes and endorses the concept of “hands on” coaching delivered in a “Daily Training Environment” (DTE), whereby the majority of training and learning sessions are delivered in person by a world class qualified and capable coach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coach and mentor recruited CRP and “Talent acceleration” athletes
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with athletes, and key stakeholders (e.g., United States Olympic Committee, sponsors)
- Create a collaborative training and competitive daily training environment which promotes team cohesion among CRP athletes and specialist coaches, demands adherence to anti-doping regulations and emphasizes the pursuit of excellence
- Responsible for the operational delivery of a daily training environment (DTE) and all RCRP activities, including but not limited to: short and long-term athlete planning, training facilitation, recovery modalities, travel and competition. Activities will be conducted in collaboration with the USAT Performance Advisor but will be the ultimate responsibility of the NDC
- Contribute as an impartial member of the coaching staff at domestic and international competitions for USA Triathlon
- Contribute as an impartial member of the coaching staff at USA Triathlon training camps
- Contribute to the philosophical evolution of the USA Triathlon High Performance Plan including athlete and coaching pathways
- Integrate USOC available resources (Physiology, Psychology, Strength and Conditioning, Nutrition etc)
- Integrate identified private resources (Rehab, Bike fit, select expertise.)
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Level 2/3 draft-legal coaching accreditation from a recognized International Triathlon Union (ITU) National Governing Body (NGB)
- Ability to work as a coach in the USA
- Minimum 3 years experience with high performance sport as a coach in draft-legal triathlon running a program delivering “hands on” coaching in a daily training environment (DTE)
- A strong understanding of and successful experience in short and long term athlete development
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills
- Physiological and tactical coaching knowledge
- A strong understanding of and successful use of sports science in athlete preparation
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use and implementation of training enhancement software, including but not limited to: Training Peaks, WKO+
- A strong understanding of team dynamics and successful experience in creating an effective team
- Ability to travel extensively and work weekends/holidays as dictated by athlete training, camp and event schedules
- Valid driver’s license required

Desired attributes:
- Demonstrated ability to coach and teach swimming for draft legal triathlon
- Understanding of past and current trends in ITU draft legal competition
- Experience in organization and delivery of training camps in remote locations
- Experience working with world class individual discipline athlete’s crossing over to the sport of triathlon, “talent transfer”

Compensation and Benefits:
