Selections have been made by the selection panel based on a number of factors, including performance at the selection camp, recent races, training feedback from coaches and commitment to a future in triathlon. Please note that inclusion in the team either as a full team member or an Emerging Athlete is an ongoing process throughout the year, so all athletes are encouraged to continue to strive towards their best performances at all times.

Congratulations to all athletes and their coaches.

The next Team project will be a talent identification visit to the Pacific Islands Triathlon Championships to be held on July 31, 2016 in Honiara, Solomon Islands. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Team OTU

Team OTU is a Junior and Under 23 Development team designed to support athletes and coaches from Emerging and Developing nations in the Oceania Region towards future success on the international stage. This will be done via the following initiatives.

• Internationally based Team Camp
• In country Talent Identification Visits
• Ongoing Athlete and Coach Mentoring and Education
• Race Support for identified athletes

Our goal is to support the ITU Development Mission Statement:

“The International Triathlon Union is committed to supporting the development of the sport worldwide. The ITU seeks to support these goals through strong relationships with continental and national federation constituents, working with its partners to offer a balanced sport development programme from grass roots to a high performance level. ITU has been able to establish a number of sport development initiatives that address the needs of young and elite athletes, particularly focusing on those from emerging and developing federations. These initiatives form the foundations upon which National Federations, particularly developing and emerging federations, can build an athlete development pipeline – a key element of any long term performance sports strategy. Such a pipeline is important as federations, athletes and their coaches strive for sustained competitive excellence at all levels of the sport.”
