The Oceania Triathlon Union held an information based seminar on 13th/14th July 2012 for technical officials who are self funding to officiate at the Barfoot & Thompson World Triathlon Grand Final Auckland 2012.

The seminar focused on providing information for technical officials who were committed to self funding to Auckland with 9 officials from New Zealand & 4 officials from Australia taking part.

Technical Officials were given information on the schedule leading up to race day, race day schedule & information on the participation, Elite & Age Group races, including a boat trip on the harbour,(facilitated by Paul Jeffrey, LOC Swim Director) to get an appreciation of the swim courses and officials were driven around the Age Group cycle course. This gave them an appreciation of the immense organisation by the LOC. This was presented by Mr Terry Sheldrake, Competition Manager Barfoot & Thompson World Triathlon Championships Grand Final Auckland.

Technical officials also were presented with information on Para Tri (Marguerite Christophers, ITU Head of Classification), Rule Changes (Shanelle Barrett, Tri NZ Technical Manager) & ITU Technical Pathways(Juliet Fahey, Oceania Technical Liaison)

This seminar gave attendees an appreciation of the organisation of the event, familiarisation of the venue & course, meaning that when these officials return to Auckland in October they will have a knowledge of operations, course venue and already have a relationship with the local organising committee.
