Continental Event Dates Released

Following the announcement of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series and ITU Triathlon World Cup calendars, ITU is pleased to confirm the competition dates for both the European and Pan-American regions.

In Europe the Spanish town of Pontevedra will host its third Premium European Cup as they get ready to hold the 2011 ETU Triathlon European Championships. Brasschaat in Belgium, the home of many long distance triathlons debuts as a round of the Premium European Cup, whilst Alanya in Turkey will celebrate its twentieth anniversary as one of the continent’s leading triathlons. Strathclyde in Scotland will host a round of the European Cup for the first time as it prepares to stage the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

A wide range of Central and South American countries are set to host important events in 2010 with Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina and Honduras all holding Pan American Cups. The ever popular Monterrey and Huatuclo will see ITU Triathlon World Cup events with the Hy-Vee Elite Cup expecting to draw the world’s very best triathletes to Iowa, USA. Brazil, the host country for the 2016 Olympic Games, will welcome two continental championships with the sprint event in Vila Velha and long distance race in Recife.
