2018 WTS Montreal Men Highlights

Having another best run of the season, Spaniard Mario Mola had a blistering come-from-behind performance to become the victor for the fourth time this season after his win at the 2018 ITU World Triathlon Montreal.Leaving the second transition with a deficit of over a minute, Mola flipped on his switch to chase down Norwegian Kristian Blummenfelt, who led for the entire leg until the final kilometre of the race when the Spaniard took control.

2018 WTS Montreal Women Highlights

Increasing her 2018 World Triathlon Series gold medal tally to three, Great Britain’s Vicky Holland won her third WTS race of the season after claiming victory at the 2018 ITU World Triathlon Montreal. Winning her second Olympic-distance race of the year, the Brit advanced 805 points in the overall Series rankings after the Penultimate event to put her in a strong contention position for the World Championship Crown at the Gold Coast Grand Final next month. Starting off on the wrong foot with a late start off the pontoon, the Brit clawed herself back in the game by catching up to the leaders on the bike, then breaking away on the run to eventually win the race.

2018 Lausanne ITU World Cup - Elite Men’s Highlights

The Norwegian team proved once more that they are always to be considered when confronting a tough and challenging bike course. And in Lausanne at the 2018 World Cup it was Gustav Iden surprising all the favourites to claim the victory, with Jonathan Brownlee following him in second place and another Norwegian, Kristian Blummenfelt, grabbing the bronze medal.

2018 European Championships Triathlon Mixed Relay Highlights

World champions France power to European mixed relay gold.The French team announced days before the European Championships that their goal here in Glasgow was to add the European title to their collection for this year, and they delivered. With the current European winner, Pierre Le Corre, and bronze medallist Cassandre Beaugrand, in the team along with Leonie Periault and Dorian Coninx, the French squad cemented their options and proved that they are serious contendents for the inaugural mixed Relay at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The silver medal was for the Swiss team, led by a fantastic Nicola Spirig, while the Belgians claimed the bronze medal.

2018 Mixed Relay Series Edmonton Highlights

In the final Mixed Relay event of the 2018 series, Australia broke the tape ahead of the 22 other countries that toed the line on Saturday afternoon in Edmonton, Canada. The largest field of the season included three countries racing the unique Mixed Relay format for the first time: China, Hong Kong and Poland. The race was hot in temperature and scorching in competition, with the top teams in the Mixed Relay standings showing up to earn valuable points in the Olympic Qualification Ranking.

2018 Hamburg Men’s Highlights

Mario Mola (ESP) made it a remarkable third straight WTS Hamburg victory on Saturday afternoon, delivering a superb run to take the tape once more in Germany. It had been a strong three-deep group of Johnny Brownlee (GBR), Vincent Luis (FRA) and Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR) that carved out a solid lead on the bikes, but Mola timed his attack to perfection as first he shut down the gap then created one of his own with an impressive 13:59 run to finish ahead of Luis in second and Richard Murray (RSA) in third.

2018 Hamburg Mixed Relay Highlights

If Saturday had felt like a high point for French triathlon, there was good reason. First, Vincent Luis delivered a brilliant WTS Hamburg silver in the men’s race, before 21-year-old Cassandre Beaugrand showed why she has been tipped for greatness with a first-ever WTS gold. By the end of Sunday, France was able to add Mixed Relay World Championship gold to their impressive haul, romping to victory by over 40 seconds from Australia, with USA home in third.

2018 Hamburg Women’s Highlights

From a starting line-up packed with seriously powerful podium potential, it was to be France’s surprise package, Cassandre Beaugrand, who left the field in her wake to earn a first-ever WTS gold at Saturday’s WTS Hamburg. An excellent swim saw the French National Champion in contention early on and she held firm in the 6-strong lead bike pack, before taking the race by the scruff of the neck and flying through the 5km run in a time of 15:48, Germany’s Laura Lindemann out-sprinting USA’s Katie Zaferes to win silver.
